Molina Healthcare of Michigan (“Molina”), in collaboration with The MolinaCares Accord (“MolinaCares”), announced seven grants supporting the work of local organizations addressing factors that impact the wellness of those living in the Genesee County area. The grants, ranging from $5,000 to $50,000, will help community partners in advancing food security, health education, access to care, and essential support services for vulnerable populations.

“Improving community wellness is a holistic endeavor between trusted partners providing a safety net of support, and the Molina grants enable these organizations to expand their impact to traditionally underserved Michiganders,” said Terrisca Des Jardins, plan president for Molina Healthcare of Michigan.

Below are the organizations and programming supported by the grants.

Catholic Charities Shiawassee and Genesee – served more than 225,000 hot meals and sack lunches last year. The demand has increased this year, while donations have decreased. Molina’s funding will help pay for thousands of meals to be served at Center for Hope and North End Soup Kitchen.

Flint Fresh – connects families with farm fresh produce through a mobile market and online delivery hub. The grant will help with hiring staff and training necessary to start a new program, thereby increasing service to SNAP and government-funded healthcare beneficiaries.

Genesee County Parks – will create a permanent calming space at Crossroads Village and Huckleberry Railroad to create a more inclusive and welcoming environment where guests of all abilities can feel comfortable and supported. This dedicated space will provide a quiet place for visitors to regulate, recharge, and fully enjoy their experience.

Greater Flint Health Coalition – will expand programs such as Commit to Fit Adults, a six-week program that includes hands-on cooking demonstrations and nutrition education. The funding will also support events focused on breastfeeding, back-to-school wellness, nutrition, and kidney health.

LatinX Technology and Community Center – served nearly 4,000 Flint area individuals last year and will use the funds to expand its services. Participants will have access to assistance with navigating healthcare and public benefits, language support to ensure accessibility, and opportunities to connect with educational and employment resources that promote long-term stability.

Re-Connections – assists justice-involved individuals transitioning back into the community through coaching, education, and employment assistance. Molina’s funding will create a music therapy program, offering participants a new way to engage with others while developing a new means of self-expression.

R.L. Jones Community Outreach Center – will expand its Access and Functional Needs Delivery Program. The initiative provides home-based delivery of nutritious and household essentials to the homebound. Many of those served have chronic health conditions, mobility challenges, or are on fixed incomes – all of which increase vulnerability to health-related food insecurity.

“Molina’s investment is more than funding; it is food, hope, and dignity delivered directly to seniors, homebound residents, and families across Flint and Genesee County,” said Sandra S. Jones, executive director of R.L. Jones Community Outreach Center. “We are deeply grateful for this partnership, which helps us continue to ‘serve the underserved, strengthen the indisposed, and uplift the forgotten.”
